Bethany Lutheran College Athletics

Mankato, Minn. - After becoming the Bethany Lutheran’s all-time point leader and all-time assist leader, Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) was awarded women’s soccer UMAC Player of the Week.

Pipal became the school’s points leader with 63 points after recording a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win over Crown. The midfielder added to her points finding the back of the net on a penalty kick in Bethany Lutheran’s 3-2 loss to Northwestern.

Earlier in the week the Vikings defeated conference rival Martin Luther 3-1. Head Coach Derick Lyngholm said Pipal was the central figure in all three of BLC's games this past week. “She was instrumental in setting up two of Bethany’s three goals versus Martin Luther on Tuesday. While they didn't show up in the stat line, without her it would have been a much different game.”
