Mankato, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran’s Jimmy DuTremaine was voted men’s soccer UMAC Defensive Player of the week. Although DuTremaine’s name and contributions do not often show up in statistical categories, his impact on the Vikings success has been evident.

The sophomore’s defensive leadership has helped the Vikings to a four-game winning streak. Last week Bethany Lutheran was 3-0 including two shutouts in which DuTremaine was instrumental in shutting down the opponent's offense. The Vikings defeated Martin Luther a week ago 1-0, Crown on Friday 3-0, and then Northwestern on Saturday 2-1.

“There have been some changes and great improvements in our program,” Head Coach Rob Pipal said. “Jimmy and Johnny Luna (freshman) are awesome together, they compliment each other wonderfully. In running the defense Jimmy has been a key to our four-game winning streak. He has really matured into a wonderful top notch defender; it’s been fun to watch.”
