Vikings defeat Crown to remain at the top of the UMAC

St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The men’s basketball team beat Crown 97-79 behind hot shooting and good rebounding. Bethany is now 8-8 overall and is tied for first in the conference with a 5-1 record.

 

The Vikings trailed by four at halftime, however came out hot on a 9 to 0 run to take a seven point lead and never trailed after that. Bethany shot a scorching hot 56.9% from the field, and 44.0% from three point range. The Vikings also outrebounded the Storm 35-21, including 14 offensive rebounds for the Vikings.

 

Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./ Le Sueur-Henderson) led the Vikings again with 20 points. Trevor Bartelt (Waldorf, Minn./ Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton) and Alex Weldon (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/ LinMar) added 16 points a piece.

 

The Vikings will continue play on Saturday at 5 p.m. when they travel to St. Paul to play Northwestern. Bethany and Northwestern are tied for first place in the UMAC, and so the winner of the game will have sole position of first place to end the weekend.
