St. Paul, Minn. - The men’s basketball team fell to Northwestern 71-45. Bethany fell behind early and was unable to gain the lead during the whole game. The Vikings are now 8-9 overall and 5-2 in the conference which places them tied for second with preseason favorite Minnesota-Morris.
The Vikings had a cold night shooting, only shooting 29.6 percent from the field including 21.1 percent from three-point range. Bethany did show depth on the court though, having 12 players with 10 minutes or more in the game.
Bethany was led by both Alex Weldon (Cedar Rapids Iowa/ LinMar), and Trevor Bartelt (Waldorf, Minn./ Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton) who had 10 points each. Derek Peterson (Oakdale, Minn./ Tartan) had a team high six rebounds, and three steals.
The Vikings will continue play this Tuesday when they travel to New Ulm, to take on their UMAC rival Martin Luther at 7:30 p.m. The Vikings defeated the Knights earlier this year by a score of 76-67.
