Pella, Iowa – The men’s basketball team was unable to stop Central defensively falling to the Dutch 86-56 Tuesday night.
The field goal percentage was consistent for both teams throughout the game. The Vikings finished shooting 37.7 percent from the field while the Dutch shot a 53.4 field goal percentage. Central made 10 shots from behind the arc in the first half finishing the game with a 41.7 three-point percentage. Bethany Lutheran went 22.7 percent from three-point range.
Alex Weldon (Linmar, Iowa/Linmar) led the Vikings in scoring recording 13 points; he also had two steals and two rebounds. Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) had 10 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Leading the Vikings in rebounds was Patrick Garvin (Jackson, Minn./Jackson County Central) with five.
The Vikings struggled to rebound the ball grabbing 24 boards compared to Central’s 41. Each team had 14 turnovers, but the Dutch had 21 points off of BLC turnovers while Bethany only scored 10 off Central turnovers.
The Vikings are now 0-4 on the season. They will travel to take on UW-La Crosse on November 30
th at 7 p.m.
