Mankato Minn. – Bethany men’s basketball team completed the season sweep of Northland at home by a score of 72-43. Good defense led to the Vikings win, holding the Lumberjacks to a low 34 field goal percentage.
The Vikings had a well distributed offense with four different players in double figure point totals. Bethany out-rebounded Northland by five, and cut down on the turnovers which led to the win for the Vikings. The Vikings also distributed the ball around having 10 more assists than Northland had on the night.
Alex Weldon (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/ LinMar) led the Vikings in scoring with 18 points. Trevor Bartelt (Waldorf, Minn./ Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton) had a huge night for the Vikings with 17 points and a team high eight rebounds. Freshman Jacob Wesmann (Lakeville, Minn./ Lakeville South) came off of the bench for Bethany to add 10 points.
The Vikings will continue play Saturday evening at 5 p.m. against St. Scholastica. Bethany is now 10-12 overall and 7-4 in conference play which places them third place in the UMAC with three conference games left to play.
