Vikings remain third seed despite dropping last home contest

Mankato, Minn.- The Bethany Lutheran men’s basketball team lost their regular season finale to the Crown Storm by a score of 109-95. The Vikings will now go onto postseason play on Wednesday.

 

The Vikings shot the ball well, however the Storm were even hotter shooting over 50 percent from the field including over 60 percent from three-point range. The Vikings did however control the boards, out-rebounding the Storm 37-31. With out-rebounding Crown, Bethany was able to get 20 second chance points, as well as 32 points in the paint.

 

Trevor Bartelt (Waldorf, Minn./ Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton) led the Vikings in scoring with 27, which includes 6-12 from three-point range. Michael Knight (LeRoy, Minn./ LeRoy-Ostrander) had a great night off of the bench for the Vikings making five three’s, and contributing 19 points. Patrick Garvin (Jackson, Minn./ Jackson) dished out eight assists to lead the Vikings.

 

Bethany will travel to Morris on Wednesday to play the Cougars in the first round of the UMAC playoffs. If the Vikings win on Wednesday they will play on Saturday for the championship with a bid into the National tournament on the line.
