Men's basketball earns first win over Concordia Chicago

River Forest, Ill. – The men’s basketball team got their first win of the season on the road at Concordia University Chicago. The Vikings defeated the Cougars 74-62.
 
Bethany controlled the remainder of the game and led by ten going into the locker room at halftime. The Vikings held Concordia-Chicago to 33 points in the first half. The Vikings defended their opponent’s three-point attempts successfully holding the Cougars to 2-10 in the first half and 1-10 in the second.
 
BLC shot 44.8 percent form the field and 47.4 percent from behind the arc. The Vikings and Cougars each had 35 rebounds.
 
Derek Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Tartan) led the team in both points and rebounds. He scored 16 going 5-8 from the field and 2-2 from long range. He grabbed nine boards and also contributed three assists. Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) was a force off the bench recording 11 points, he was a perfect 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from three-point range. Alex Weldon (Marion, Iowa/Limar) had eight points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Patrick Garvin (Jackson, Minn./Jackson County Central) had eight points, three assists and two steals. Off the bench Jeremiah Fogarty (Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine) led the team in assists with four.
 
The Vikings are 1-2 overall and hope to improve their record this weekend. Bethany will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take on Wisconsin Lutheran at 2 p.m. on November 24th.
