Halftime lead fades as Vikes fall to Buena Vista

Storm Lake, Iowa – The Bethany women’s basketball team gave up a halftime lead falling to the Buena Vista Beavers on the road 67-64.
 
The Vikings had a 39-33 lead going into the locker room at the half. The squads were evenly matched but Bethany went 5-6 from three-point range in the first half to give them an edge. The match had a total of eight ties and nine lead changes. The Beavers took the lead with eight minutes left in the second and kept it for the win.
 
Bethany shot 41.3 percent from the field. In the second half the Vikes went 3-9 from three-point range to shoot a game total of 53.3 percent from the arc. The Beavers shot 39.7 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point range making seven of their 21 attempts. BLC outrebounded Buena Vista 43-39. The Vikings had 15 turnovers compared to Buena Vista’s 10.
 
Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) led the Vikings with a double-double. She had 20 points and 17 rebounds. Jade Pelzl (Rushford, Minn./UW-Eau Claire) had 17 points going 5-7 from the arc and recorded four assist. Kelsie Ammann (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) had 11 points and led the team in assist with six.
 
The next contest for Bethany will be versus Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa, on December 4th. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
