Vikings lose heartbreaker, fall to #5 Tommies in overtime

Box Score

Mankato, Minn. - Undefeated and #5 ranked St. Thomas came to Mankato Monday night to battle Bethany and the Vikings gave the Tommies all they could handle. St. Thomas’ Will DeBerg drained a three at the buzzer and then the Tommies took over in overtime to steal a win from the Vikings 94-91.

Two foul Derek Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Tartan) foul shots put Bethany up 76-71 with nine seconds remaining in regulation. St. Thomas’ Noah Kaiser followed with a quick layup to cut it to three. Bethany threw away the inbounds pass giving the Tommies one last chance with three seconds remaining. Kaiser inbounded the pass to a wide open DeBerg who connected with the game tying three at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
