Men's basketball unable to complete the comeback, fall to Dutch

Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany men’s basketball team fell to the Central Dutch on the road. The Vikings were down by four going into the locker room at half time; they outscored Central in the second half but did not completely close the deficit falling 77-79.
 
BLC shot 40.3 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range. They were 9-13 from the charity stripe. The two squads were close in rebounds with the Vikings grabbing 41 boards compared to Central’s 40. Bethany committed 10 turnovers while the Dutch committed 12. Central shot 47.6 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from behind the arc. The Dutch hit 76.5 percent of their free throws including three in the last 10 seconds to preserve the win.
 
The Vikings had 15 points off of turnovers while Central had 16. Central led in points in the paint by 10, but the Vikings had 10 more second chance points. Bethany had 28 bench points while Central had 13.
 
Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur) led offensively for the Vikings with 18 points, he also had four rebounds. Derick Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Tartan) led the team in rebounds with 11. Peterson recorded a double-double adding 14 points, he also contributed four assists. Off the bench Garret Benson (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) had 12 points. Fogarty, also off the bench, had 10 points and three assists.
 
Next up for the men’s basketball team is a home game versus the NCAA Division III number five ranked team, St. Thomas. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
