St. Paul, Minn. – The Vikings remain undefeated in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) by beating Northwestern on the road 59-56.
Bethany was down by three at halftime only scoring 19 points in the first, but made adjustments in the locker room to score 40 points in the second and come away with a win. Bethany hit 44.0 percent of shots from the field and 40.9 percent from three-point range. Northwestern shot 33.9 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from behind the three-point arc. Bethany outrebounded the Eagles 41-36.
Alex Weldon (Marion, Iowa/Linmar) had 16 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block. Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) had 10 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one block. Derek Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Tartan) led the team in assists with five, he also had nine points and five rebounds. Patrick Garvin (Jackson, Minn./Jackson County Central) had seven points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Bethany will play at Crown on Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. in the last UMAC regular season game of the year. BLC is now 15-9 overall and 13-0 in the UMAC. The Vikings are the No. 1 seed in the conference and will host the UMAC Post-season Semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
