Men's basketball win steak comes to an end with overtime loss

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The men’s basketball team’s winning streak came to an end with a 78-74 overtime loss versus Crown in the last regular season game of the year.
 
The Vikings were down by three at halftime but managed to tie the game at the end of regulation 68-68. Crown scored 10 points in overtime while the Vikings only managed six. Bethany shot 42.4 percent from the field and was 6-23 from behind the three-point arc. Crown shot 47.3 percent from the field and went 12-25 from three-point range. Crown scored 23 points off of Bethany turnovers.
 
Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) led the team in points with 19, he also had six rebounds. Derek Peterson (St. Paul, Minn./Tartan) and Alex Weldon (Marion, Iowa/Linmar) each had 13 points. Peterson led the team in rebounds with eight and had five assists. Weldon had four rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
 
Prior to the loss the Vikings secured the number one seed in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Post-season Tournament and will host the number four seed Minnesota-Morris on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m. The Vikings are 15-10 overall and 14-1 in the conference.
