Second half comeback falls short, three-game win streak snapped

Box Score The Bethany Vikings lost a tough one Friday night, coming back from as many as 16 points down in the second half to lose by a final score of 75-72.

Bethany held a lead of seven at one point in the first half, but would not hold a lead in the second, coming as close as two behind at three different points in the final minutes of the game.

The Vikings made and attempted more shots in the ballgame, with 27-63 (42.9 percent) shooting from the field, including an impressive 47.8 percent rate on 11-23 from beyond the arc. Crown made 24-of-35 foul shots compared to just 7-for-9 for Bethany.

Alex Weldon led the team in points with 20 in the game, including 5-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Deon Wright scored 15 points and recorded seven steals in the ballgame. Derek Peterson dished out six assists in the game and scored eight points.

Anthony DiLoreto could not be stopped for Crown. The big 7-footer scored 38 points on 13-of-16 shooting, grabbed 15 rebounds and played the entire 40 minutes.

With the loss, the Vikings fall to 4-2 in conference and are 6-10 overall. The Vikings will look to start another win streak when they take on Minnesota-Morris on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
