Wensmann has big day, but Vikings fall to Scots

Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany men's basketball team wrapped up its first back-to-back set of the season with a non-conference home tilt Saturday afternoon against Covenant College. Jacob Wensmann had a monster game with 29 points and 16 rebounds, but the Scots from Georgia proved too much beating the Vikings 94-76.

The Vikings held a lead for most of the first ten minutes with their biggest advantage being at six points. The Scots tied the game at 14 and would capture then extend the lead the rest of the half as they held a 39-28 advantage at the break.

BLC wouldn't go away quietly though. Jeremiah Fogarty drained a 3 to cut the Scots lead to four with 15:53 remaining. That deficit would remain that tight for the next three minutes before Covenant began to pull away.

A player that proved to be unstoppable for Covenant was Colton McGriff. He scored a game-high 35 points on 14-of-24 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Wensmann's stat line included a perfect 8-for-8 showing at the foul line and two blocked shots. Luke Roddy was Bethany's other scorer in double figures with 15 points and also was 8-for-8 in free throws. Roddy also dished out five assists.

Bethany (0-6) takes to the road for the first time since their season opener for two straight non-conference games against MIAC opponents beginning Wednesday at St. Mary's.
