Men race out to big lead and don't look back in win over Jacks

Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. --- Trent Kuechenmeister scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half and the Vikings built a 16-point halftime advantage as Bethany cruised to a 62-43 win over Northland Friday night in men's basketball action.

Bethany trailed by a point early and then went on a 15-2 run which was started by a Kuechenmeister 3 and a lay-in and ended with a pair of 3s from Luke Roddy and Rodney Pierce-Tyler as the Vikings went up 20-8 11 minutes into the game. BLC's lead got up to as many as 18 on three separate occasions as the Vikings went to the locker room with a 35-19 advantage.

The Vikings used the 3-point shot to get that big lead. They connected on 7-of-12 from beyond the arc, good for 58 percent. The second half was much of the same as they shot 50 percent from the floor.

Roddy joined Kuchenmeister in double figures with 13 points and only missed one shot from the floor in six attempts. Jacob Wensmann added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Bethany (3-12, 2-2 UMAC) plays Saturday at St. Scholastica at 3 p.m.
