Luke Roddy free throws, and a defensive stop at the buzzer turned defeat into a come-from-behind win for the Vikings as they pulled out a 95-94 victory over Crown in UMAC men's basketball action.
Chris Scarver picked up where he left off last time out when he scored 26 against St. Scholastica by coming off the bench to score 20 points on 5-for-7 from 3-point range to lead Bethany. Kuechenmeister tallied 18 on 8-for-12 shooting.
Jacob Wensmann and Roddy each recorded double-doubles with Wensmann scoring 16 and grabbing ten rebounds while Roddy scored ten and dished out 12 assists.
Martin Stevens scored 12 off the bench.
In a game decided by one point with nearly 200 combined points scored, the offensive numbers had to be impressive and they were. The Vikings shot nearly 55 percent from the floor for the game compared to 45 percent for Crown. What made up the difference was Crown's 3-point shooting. They hit 17-of-30 from beyond the arc (56.7 percent). Bethany wasn't too shabby either shooting 55.6 percent on 10-for-18.
Crown's Bryce Williams, the UMAC's leading scorer, scored 33 points for the Storm.
Bethany (4-13, 3-3 in UMAC) plays Saturday at Minn.-Morris at 5 p.m.
