Gusties too much for Bethany men

Box Score ST. PETER, Minn. - Gustavus Adolphus used a pair of big first half runs to build a sizable halftime lead en route to an 85-50 win over Bethany in men's basketball non-conference action Tuesday night.

With the Gusties leading 12-5 early on, a pair of Viking freshmen helped bring Bethany to within two. Zach Brandts drained a 3 and Neil Eichten converted a layup after a Brandts steal to make it 12-10 with 10:57 left in the first.

Gustavus went on its first run of the first half scoring the game's next 13 points over a four minute stretch to go up 25-10. They then closed the half on an 11-2 spurt to lead 38-16 at the break.

Brandts led BLC with 11 points. Four players were in double figures for Gustavus led by Gary Cooper's 17 points.

Bethany (0-3) next plays Saturday home to Wisconsin Lutheran at 2 p.m.
