Vikings complete homestand sweep

Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- Coming into an important three-game homestand this week, Bethany found themselves in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Upper Midwest Athletic. After beating Martin Luther Tuesday, St. Scholastica Friday, and then dispatching Northland on Saturday, 92-68, the Vikings are now tied with Crown for third place at 6-4 with two weekends remaining.

Just like the Bethany women, the men used hot first half shooting to gain a double digit lead going into the break. The Vikings made 8 3s on 13 attempts (61.5 percent) and shot 58 percent from the floor as they built a 47-34 first half advantage. Luke Roddy was 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and Chris Scarver made two of his three shots from deep as well.

Jacob Wensmann started out strong for Bethany as he scored 11 of the team's 13 points. He finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Turning in a career-high effort was sophomore Nick Sanborn. He came into Saturday averaging seven points a game. He tripled that output scoring 21 on 8-of-11 shooting and also grabbed eight rebounds.

Scarver ended up with 16 points and Roddy and Trent Kuechenmeister each scored in double figures (13 and 12 points, respectively).

Another big game awaits for Bethany (7-14, 6-4 in UMAC) as they travel to play Northwestern Friday at 7:30 p.m.
