Box Score Men's Basketball Earns First Win of 2016
HANCOCK, Mich. – The men's basketball team kicked off the New Year with a non-conference road game against the Finlandia Lions. The Vikings earned their first victory of 2016 by defeating the Lions 74-64. With the victory, Bethany improves to 4-7, 2-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
Leading the way for Bethany in the contest was junior
Brandyn Frelix who finished with 19 points and nine rebounds. Recording his second double-double of the season was
Brady Rose contributing with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Vikings in the efforts over Finlandia. Also collecting 13 points was senior
Nick Sanborn while
Walker Froehling finished with 10 points, going 2-3 from beyond the arc.
Bethany shot 45.9% (28-61) from the field compared to the Lions who ended the game at 36.4% (24-66). In the rebound category, Bethany out-rebounded Finlandia 48 to 34.
The Vikings will return to action Sunday afternoon when they take on the Lumberjacks from Northland in an UMAC contest starting at 3 p.m. Northland returns the game with an 0-11 record on the season.
