Box Score Eagles Hot Shooting Downs Vikings

MANKATO, Minn. – The men's basketball team returned to their home floor Friday night as they welcomed the Northwestern Eagles to the Sports and Fitness Center for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference tilt. The Eagles defeated the Vikings by a final score of 84-66.

With the loss, Bethany falls to a 4-9 (2-3 in UMAC) record while Northwestern improves to 11-2 (4-1 in UMAC) on the season.

From the opening tip Northwestern shot extremely well from behind the arc. Entering halftime the Eagles shot 52.4% (11-21) to take a 39-22 advantage over the Vikings. For Northwestern, Cody Sprenger scored 15 first half points, going 5-6 from downtown.

Offensively for Bethany on the night,
Brandyn Frelix contributed with 14 total points while freshman
Brandon Egge added 11 points off the bench for the Vikings. Senior
Nick Sanborn finished the UMAC contest with 10 points. Defensively for the Vikings,
Nate Chadderdon recorded six rebounds each while
Jordan Sandmeyer,
Frelix, and
Egge all added five rebounds apiece.

Looking at the percentages, Bethany finished the game shooting 41.3% (26-63) compared to Northwestern's 49.3% (33-67). The Eagles finished the game with 17 three pointers made while the Vikings connected on five.

Saturday afternoon the men's basketball team will be action in action with the Rams from North Central. Game time is set for 3 p.m. with the women's basketball team playing after at 5 p.m.
