Box Score Men's Basketball Unable to Keep Pace with Finlandia
MANKATO, Minn. – In the last remaining home basketball game of the season, the Bethany men's basketball team played a non-conference game against the Finlandia Lions. The Vikings fell to the Lions by a final score of 82-69.
Bethany played the first 20 minutes of the game clicking on the offensive end, shooting 45.7% compared to Finlandia's 38.7% from the field. Going into the half, the Vikings held a 48-31 lead over the Lions.
In the second half, Finlandia took control of the contest with their lights out shooting from beyond the arc. The Lions shot 58.8% (10-17) from three's to finish the game with 14 total compared to Bethany's eight long range makes.
Brandyn Frelix and
Zach Brandts paced the offensive attack for the Vikings by scoring 15 points apiece. Sophomore guard
Neil Eichten chipped in 11 points while teammate
Jarred Merchant added eight points off the bench for the Vikings.
Brady Rose played well for Bethany, collecting 13 rebounds and scoring six points.
Nick Sanborn, the lone senior on the roster played his final home basketball game of his career on Saturday afternoon. The forward scored seven points and recorded three rebounds.
Finlandia used a balance scoring attack against the Vikings as four Lions reached double digits in points. Jordan LaPlant led all scorers with 22 points to help defeat Bethany.
