FOREST CITY, Iowa. – The Bethany women's basketball team (5-0) defeated Waldorf University (2-6) on the road by a score of 79-65.
The Vikings led the Warriors 39-34 at the half behind 11 points from freshman forward Hanna Geistfeld. The Vikings shot a solid 48.4% (15-31) from the field and 70% (7-10) from the free throw line. The Warriors were 48.3% (14-29) from the field in the first half and 75% (3-4) from the free throw line.
The Vikings scored 25 points in the third quarter and tightened up the defense to only allow 14 third quarter points for the Warriors, widening their lead to 16 points. The Vikings closed out the game in the fourth quarter, picking up their fifth win of the season by a score of 79-65.
Haley Sandin continues to lead the Vikings in scoring as she put up 21 points and went 11-13 from the free throw line. Brooke Henning nearly had another double-double as she scored 11 points and collected nine rebounds. Emily Skrien had a good game for the Vikings with 10 points and seven rebounds. Hanna Geistfeld was the second leading scorer for Bethany with 14 points.
The Vikings were 25-62 (40.3%) from the field and shot 22-28 (78.6%) from the free throw line.
Up Next: The Vikings hit the road again on Saturday, December 2 to take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 6 PM.
