Vikings Take Care of Business on the Road against the Knights

NEW ULM, Minn.  – The Bethany men's basketball team (5-5, 3-0) took care of business on the road against Martin Luther (1-8, 1-2) in their midweek UMAC contest. The two teams battled each other evenly through the first ten minutes of the game, but the Vikings were too much for the Knights over the long haul, winning by a score of 90-55.
 
The Vikings had a slim one-point lead, 27-26, with 8:50 remaining in the first half before opening the game up and finishing the half with a 22-3 run. At the break, the Vikings led the Knights 49-29. Senior guard Neil Eichten led all first-half scorers with 12 points on 5-8 shooting. Bradley Rose added nine points, going 7-8 from the free-throw line, and Jake Dale had six points and seven rebounds.
 
The Vikings continued to dominate in the second half, stretching their lead to as many as 36 points, eventually winning by a final score of 90-55.
 
As a team, the Vikings were relentless in attacking the rim and shot 47.8% overall from the field despite shooting only 22.7% (5-22) from behind the three-point line. Bethany dominated the game at the free-throw line, shooting 19-25 as a team. The Vikings also collected 18 offensive rebounds with Jake Dale grabbing six himself.
 
All five starters reached double-figure scoring for the Vikings with Trenton Krueger leading the way with 15 points on 6-7 shooting from the field. Krueger also had a game-high five blocks. Bradley Rose scored 14 points for the Vikings, Neil Eichten and Jake Dale had 12 each, and Brady Rose contributed 10. Austin Bauer had a good game off the bench for the Vikings, facilitating the offense with seven points and six assists.   
 
Up Next: The Vikings are back at home on Saturday, December 16 when they host Northland College at 2 PM.
