Vikings Lose to Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn.  – The Bethany men's basketball team (2-5) visited St. Olaf (4-1) on Monday evening for one last non-conference tune-up before the start of UMAC play on Wednesday. The Vikings were in control of the game for the first 20 minutes, but the St. Olaf offense exploded for 56 second-half points as the Oles won 92-81.

The Vikings held a 40-36 advantage at the end of the first half after shooting 51.4% from the field. Trenton Krueger had a big first half for the Vikings with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jake Dale also found his rhythm in the first half against the Oles, going 4-6 from the field for eight points. The Vikings had 10 assists in the first period, but seven turnovers limited their chances.

The Oles started the second half with a quick 7-0 run that forced the Vikings to call a timeout. The Vikings were able to regroup for a bit, but were not able to slow the St. Olaf offensive attack. The Oles exploded for 56 points in the second half, going 20-34 from the field overall and 7-11 from the three-point line. The Vikings were 12-23 (52.2%) from the field in the second half and 4-8 from the three-point line. Ten second half turnovers limited the Vikings opportunities and they lost by a final score of 92-81.
