MANKATO, Minn. – To conclude the 2016-17 regular season schedule, the Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team hosted the University of Northwestern Eagles on Senior Day in the Sports and Fitness Center. The final score went in favor of the Eagles – who defeated the Vikings 67-66 in a very exciting contest.
Following the loss, Head Coach Lyle Jones and his Vikings finish the regular season with a 12-13 overall mark and 9-7 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference record.
Sophomore
Haley Sandin (Zimmerman, Minn.) hit her 1000th career point to become the fourth player in program history to reach the milestone. The sophomore guard finished with 26 points while adding four steals – shooting 10-22 from the floor, 2-7 from the arch, and 4-5 from the free-throw line. Seniors
Minnie Frederick-Childress (Flint, Mich.) and
Anna Balcom (Fairmont, Minn.) had 17 and 11 points each in the efforts against Northwestern.
UP NEXT:
The Vikings will begin the 2016-17 UMAC Tournament on Monday, February 20
th (quarterfinals) against the Knights from Martin Luther. The game will be held in the Sports and Fitness Center will tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
