WATERTOWN, Wis. – The Bethany Vikings (12-4) had a break from UMAC play this weekend and traveled to Watertown, Wisconsin to take on the Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats (3-6). The Vikings grabbed a 20 point lead in the first quarter and never looked back, beating the Sabercats by a final score of 81-59.
The Vikings were hot early from the field, shooting 11-17 in the first quarter. They cooled off a bit in the second quarter and finished the half 17-38 from the field. Haley Sandin, Brooke Henning, and Abby Olson scored 13, 12, and 10 first half points respectively for the Vikings.
The Vikings kept the Sabercats away in the second half, never letting the lead dip below 15 points. They led by as many as 25 points in the second half and picked up their twelfth win of the season by a final score of 81-59.
Every Viking on the roster saw action in the win tonight. Abby Olson finished with a team-high 20 points as well as eight rebounds. Haley Sandin scored 19 points for the Vikings and dished out six assists. Brooke Henning added 18 points to the board and Melodie DeVlaeminck scored eight points off the bench in just nine minutes of play.
