MANKATO, MN – The Bethany Lutheran College men's basketball team continued their tough non-conference schedule on Saturday by hosting St. Olaf. The Oles were a NCAA Tournament team last year and were picked to finish 2nd in the MIAC this year. The halftime score was close, the Vikings were down by just one points, but the Oles would pull away in the second half and win by a final score of 81-68.
Austin Korba scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Oles in the win. The Vikings got 22 points and seven assists from Cire Mayfield. Jared Milinkovich and Jarred Merchant both scored 10 points with seven rebounds for BLC.
BLC finished the game 24-59 from the field for 40.7%. The Oles were 27-61 from the field for 44.3%. The Vikings committed 17 turnovers which the Oles turned into 16 points compared to just eight points off turnovers for BLC. The Vikings attacked the basket hard and held a 40-28 advantage on points in the paint, but the Oles made 10 shots from deep compared to just three for the Vikings.
