Ashland, WI – The Viking's women's basketball team beat Northland College 83-52. The win makes for five in a row, tying the Viking's longest streak of the season. It also puts the Viking's record at 10-1, as they continue to improve on the best start the school has ever had. The win also means the Viking's UMAC record is a perfect 4-0.
The Vikings came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out to a 14-8 lead to start the game. They would stay consistent with their production, and would end the first quarter up 24-11. The Vikings carried that momentum into the second quarter, outscoring Northland 21-11. The second half would prove to be much of the same, and the Vikings would leave the game with a 31 point victory over Northland.
The Vikings would force Northland into 28 turnovers and was able to capitalize on that as they outscored Northland in points off of turnovers 23-12. The Vikings would also be able to convert on more of their shots, shooting 50% from the field as opposed to Northland's 39%.
Hanna Geistfeld nearly had a double-double, recording 21 points and 9 rebounds. The Vikings were also helped by
Haley Sandin 18 points,
Abby Olson 16 points, and
Kenlie Pytleski 15 points.
