Minneapolis, Minn. – The Bethany Vikings (19-6, 12-4) clinched the #2 seed and a home game in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) tournament after defeating North Central (9-14, 4-11) on Wednesday evening. The Vikings 19th win this season ties the most wins in program history since becoming a four-year NCAA DIII program.
The Vikings dominated the Rams in their final regular-season game, jumping out to a 41-29 lead by halftime. The Vikings continued to push the pace in the second half and cruised to their largest margin of victory this season, defeating the Rams 82-45.
The Vikings had great offensive balance in the win as five players reached double-figures. Abby Olson was the leading scorer with 15 points. Hanna Geistfeld, Haley Sandin, Emily Skrien, and Brooke Henning also finished in double-digits. Sandin was a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line and Henning had a game-high seven rebounds.
The Vikings were outstanding at the free throw line, going 23-25 in the game. They finished with a 38.0% field goal percentage and grabbed 17 offensive rebounds. The Vikings also recorded 18 assists on 27 made field goals.
Up Next: The Vikings will be the #2 seed in the UMAC tournament and will host #3 seed MN-Morris on Wednesday, February 21. The men will also be hosting on Wednesday evening which means the women will tipoff at 7:30 PM following the men's game.
