MANKATO, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team captured its 12th straight win and moved to 10-1 in the conference play after defeating the Northland College Lumberjacks. The Vikings now hold the top spot in the UMAC with a half-game lead over Northwestern.
The Vikings played a solid first half, grabbing a 47-33 lead in the opening 20 minutes. Jared Milinkovich continues to be an offensive force for the Vikings and led the way with 14 points in the first half. After missing Wednesday's game against MLC, Cire Mayfield was back on the court for the Vikings and scored 13 points in the opening half. The Vikings were clicking on the offensive end together, dishing out 10 assists while only turning the ball over two times.
The Vikings continued to expand their lead in the second half, up by 24 points with ten minutes remaining in the game. A few minutes later, Don Henderson Jr. buried a three-pointer from the right win to put the Vikings ahead by 27. The Lumberjacks continued to fight and cut the lead all the way down to eight points, but their comeback effort would not be enough. The Vikings won by a final score of 93-85.
Up Next: The Vikings have a big game on Wednesday as the battle the University of Northwestern for the top spot in the UMAC. The Vikings and Eagles will tipoff at 7:15 PM.
