NORTHFIELD, Minn.—Nonconference opponent St. Olaf (2-1 overall) used a strong second half effort to edge Bethany Lutheran College (1-2) 82-77 Saturday.
The Vikings led 36-34 at halftime. The second frame featured seven ties which included at 69 all with 5:06 to play. The Oles compiled a 7-0 run over the next minute to regain the lead for good.
Senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) led all scorers with 27 points and finished with a double double with a career-high 16 rebounds. Sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) and junior Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) joined him in double digits with 17and 114 points, respectively.
BLC owned the team advantages in all three shooting percentage categories, and it compiled a new season-best from the free throw line (92.9%).
Bethany returns to the court Wednesday when it hosts Luther College at 7 p.m.
