LAKEVILLE, MN – The Macalester Scots showed up ready to play against the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Friday night. The Vikings put their 2-1 record up against the undefeated Scots and would fall by a score of 7-2. BLC is now 2-2 on the season while the Scots moved to 5-0.
Carter Dahl was the lone singles winner for the Vikings. He was shutout in his first set, losing 6-0, but he fought back to take the second set 6-3 and went on to win the third-set tiebreak 10-6.
The Vikings were very competitive in their other singles matches, but they couldn't pick up any more wins. At #1 singles, Laine Larson lost 6-4, 6-4. Dalton Werckman tested his opponent in the first set, losing 7-5, 6-1 at #2. Nico Martinez Biali also played tough in his first set, losing 7-5, 6-2.
At #1 doubles, Larson/Werckman teamed up for a hard fought win. The duo moved to 2-0 on the season together with an 8-7 (7-4) win.
Up next: The matches the Vikings had scheduled for Saturday, February 23 have been CANCELLED due to potential weather. The Vikings will play again on Friday, March 1 against Simpson College in Lakeville followed by a match on Saturday, March 2 against Loras College in Lakeville.
