Superior, WIS. – With an 86-69 victory over the University of Wisconsin Superior Yellowjackets, Bethany Lutheran College has secured the #2 seed in the UMAC tournament, guaranteeing a home game for the Vikings. The win also moves the Vikings record to 17-7 and 12-3 in the UMAC.
The Vikings found success to start the first half, going on a 12-4 run through the opening minutes. Bethany would lose a bit of momentum from there, and the Yellowjackets were able to make it a close game. At the end of the first half, the Vikings were the benefactors of a just three point lead, 42-39.
The second half was where the Vikings were really able to flourish however, shooting 8-11 from three to start the second half, which gave them a 74-51 lead with about 10 minutes to go. That 23 point lead would be the high water mark for the Vikings though, as the Yellowjackets did make a small push at the end, but the Vikings were still able to score a 17 point victory.
Jare Milin had a career high 30 points as well as 5 rebounds. CM had 15 points and 6 assists, and JM had 13 points and 7 rebounds.
Up next: The Vikings take on North Central University at home on Wednesday, January 13th at 7:15 p.m.
