MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team moved to 9-2 on the season in the 77-59 win over Valley City State (3-7) Saturday afternoon, to conclude the nonconference portion of its schedule.
Junior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) scored the first 13 points for BLC and finished with 26 in the contest. Classmate Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) led all scorers with a double double (29 points and 10 rebounds).
Valley City State opened the game on a 4-0 run until Olson answered with her 13 points over the next two minutes, to give Bethany the 13-4 lead which it never relinquished.
BLC later led 39-30 at halftime and 58-48 at the end of the third quarter.
Bethany owned the advantage in two of the three team shooting percentage categories, rebounds (53-44), offensive rebounds (21-13), assists (17-9), and steals (19-6).
BLC continues its four-game homestand Wednesday against Minnesota-Morris at 7:15 p.m.
