Throughout the remainder of the fall semester, the UMAC will highlight a student-athlete from each conference winter sport program in light of the postponed regular season due to COVID-19. Student-athletes will be featured on Mondays and Tuesdays with a focus on one sport per day with four or five schools included each day. Questions and answers focus on the holistic Division III student-athlete experience.
Today's UMAC 2020 Winter Feature highlights a men's indoor track and field student-athlete from Bethany Lutheran College (Ryan McCue).

What do you enjoy most about being a student-athlete at Bethany Lutheran?
I enjoy getting the opportunity to grow academically, athletically, and socially with my teammates. Being able to pair all of this with a Christian mindset has helped prepare me for life after college at BLC.
What is your favorite memory so far as part of your team?
My favorite memory with my team is grinding together at practice at 6 A.M. We bare each other's burdens every morning, grow together, and have a good dance break in the middle of practice.
What advice would you give to your younger self in order to be successful?
Take a risk, you never know what is going to happen unless you leap off the cliff. You may fail, but the learning that takes place from that failure is the most important lesson you can have.
What has been the best lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete?
I have learned how to prioritize everything in my life. Prioritization has been the key to being a successful student, athlete, and friend. Time management and prioritization go hand-in-hand.
What has been one of your favorite academic pursuits at Bethany Lutheran?
I have enjoyed the opportunities to go into classrooms in the Mankato Area Schools and help affect student's lives academically, socially, and emotionally.
What is one word you would use to describe your team?
Supportive.
