Men's Basketball Opens Two-Game Homestand to End Regular Season

MANKATO, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (17-6 overall, 12-2 UMAC) concludes the regular season with two home games and will first host Crown (9-13, 7-7) Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Vikings are in third and the Storm are fifth in the conference standings. Both teams have clinched bids in the upcoming conference tournament.

The Series
BLC owns the all-time series lead at 25-7, and won the first meeting of the season, 89-69 on Jan. 22.

Bethany Lutheran
The Vikings have four players in double digits as sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) leads the team with 17.4 PPG. Senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) follows at 15.9 and juniors Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) and Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) round out the leading scorers with 13.2 and 12.0 PPG, respectively.

Krueger leads the team on the glass with his 8.7 rebounds/game. Mayfield has a team-high 165 assists and Smith has a team-best 43 steals.

Career Record Watch
Krueger is first in blocks (76) and field goals (440), third in rebounds (567), and seventh in points (1,093). Jared Milinkovich is third in blocks (55) and Mayfield is fourth in assists (303). Freshman Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) is 10th in blocks (28).

Single Season Record Watch
Mayfield is first in assists (165) and Nielsen is fourth in blocked shots (28).

Krueger is third in rebounds (199), tied for seventh in blocks (22), and 10th in field goals (156).

As a team, the Vikings have set a new record in blocks (101).

Against the Conference
BLC leads the league in scoring offense (92.4 PPG), and field goal percentage (.501).

Mayfield is the fourth-leading scorer (17.1 PPG), and Krueger is the fifth-leading scorer (16.4) and fifth-leading rebounder (8.4 rebounds/game).

Krueger is first in field goal percentage (.744), Mayfield is first in assists (109) and Nielsen is second in blocks (20).

Crown's Tim Wendel is the conference's leading scorer (25.2 PPG) and Gunnar Ledin is third (17.4)

Wendel leads the team with 23.5 PPG and 9.9 rebounds/game. Ledin and Christian Moore follow with 16.8 and 10.3 PPG, respectively.
