MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (21-3 overall, 14-2 UMAC) won the first Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Regular Season Championship in program history in the 71-48 win over UW-Superior (17-8, 13-3).

The first quarter remained close as it had four ties which included 12 all with 2:23 to go. The Vikings used a 7-3 run to take the four-point lead at the end of the frame and later led 30-25 at halftime.
BLC used a 25-8 third quarter to push the game out of reach.
Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) had a double double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Classmate Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) joined her in double figures with 16 points.
Defensively, Bethany was able to hold the 'Jackets to under 30% from the field (29.3) and three-point range (25.0).
The Vikings also owned the advantages in rebounds (40-28), assists (19-7), and steals (9-6).
BLC will be the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament and will host a UMAC Tournament Semifinal game Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of No. 4 Minnesota-Morris and No. 5 North Central.
