ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (24-4 overall) fell 67-60 to UW-Oshkosh (20-10) in the NCAA Tournament Second Round Saturday. The Titans opened the fourth quarter on an 18-0 run to take the six-point lead (58-52) with 3:46 remaining.
The Vikings were able to slice the margin to two on a trey from junior Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, MInn.) with 2:25 to go. UW-Oshkosh answered with a triple to push it back to five-point advantage.
Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) then made both of her free throws to cut it to three with 1:39 left before the Titans brought it down the court and laid it in to make it a five-point game once more. Geistfeld drew another foul and again made both attempts to make it 63-60 with 1:16 to play.
After a missed trey by BLC, it chose to foul and UW-Oshkosh made four of six free throws down the stretch to seal the win and advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
Geistfeld led the team with 18 points and classmate Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) joined her in double figures with 14 points.
This was the second appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Bethany, and was the second-straight trip.
