DUBUBUE, Iowa — Freshmen Alexis Cloyd (Garden City, Minn.) and Grace Sikkink (Blaine, Minn.) had career nights in the 94-78 loss to host-Loras to open competition at the Loras Tournament Wednesday.
Cloyd finished with 26 points, which included six three-point field goals, which was one shy of the single-game school record.
Sikkink finished with 13 and added seven rebounds.
The Vikings opened the first two minutes of the contest on an 8-4 run. BLC later led 13-10 with 5:53 to play in the first, but the Duhawks responded with three triples to reclaim the lead at 19-13 with 4:17 left in the quarter.
Loras continued to lead at halftime and the end of the third quarter, until Bethany used a late rally in the fourth as a trey from Cloyd made it a nine-point game (85-76) with 2:20 to play. The Duhawks answered once more with a 9-0 run to push their lead back to double digits.
Senior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) tallied a double double with 10 points and as many rebounds.
This was her seventh-straight game and eighth of the season with a double double.
Sophomore Sara Kottke (Buffalo Lake, Minn.) completed those in double digits with 10 points, which all came in the first half.
As a team, Bethany owned the advantages in rebounds and free throw percentage.
The Vikings conclude competition in Loras' Tournament tomorrow against No. 8/10 Simpson at 2 p.m.
