DUBUQUE, Iowa – Senior Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) became the 11
th member of Bethany Lutheran's 1,000 career point club Thursday in the 81-68 win over St. Scholastica. He achieved this on his layup with 6:59 to play in the second half, and would finish with 13 points on the day.
Senior Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) had a team-high 19 points, classmate Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) had 17, and junior Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) had a double double with 13 points and as many rebounds.
The Vikings took the 39-33 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Saints made it a one-point game in the first two minutes of the second half (39-38), but BLC compiled a 9-4 run over the next four minutes to push the margin to seven, and later led by as many as 17 in the frame.
As a team, Bethany owned the advantage in field goal percentage, rebounds, assists, and blocks.
The Vikings are off from competition until Saturday, Jan. 8 when they continue UMAC play on the road against Martin Luther at 2:45 p.m.
