MANKATO, Minn. – Five players for the Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (3-4 overall) finished in double digits in the 101-88 loss to Wartburg (7-1) Saturday.
Senior Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) led the Vikings with 21 points and added six rebounds. Junior Justin Schrupp (Danube, Minn.) followed with 20 points, seniors Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) and Jacob Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) both had 13, and junior Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) finished with 10.
The Knights led 57-44 at halftime. BLC opened the first two minutes of the second frame on a 7-2 run to make it an eight-point game (59-51) which forced a timeout by Wartburg.
Bethany continued its surge and made it a six-point game (62-56) on a layup from Mayfield with 15:29 remaining. Four minutes later, the Knights led by 17 (79-62), but BLC answered with a 10-0 run over the next 2:30 to make it a seven-point game (79-72) prompting another Wartburg timeout in an attempt to halt the rally.
The Knights compiled a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to push their lead to double digits once more.
The Vikings made 18 three-point field goals in the contest, just one shy of the school record. BLC held the team advantages in assists (25-22) and steals (14-11).

Bethany takes to the road for the next seven games, which includes the first weekend of conference competition next Friday. The Vikings will travel to face UW-Superior Friday at 7:15 p.m.
