MORRIS, Minn.—Minnesota Morris (2-4 overall, 2-4 UMAC) outscored Bethany Lutheran (4-2, 3-2) 63-38 in the second half on its way to the 115-86 victory Saturday.
The Vikings led for most of the first half, and the score was tied for the seventh time at 46 all with 1:57 to go. The Cougars ended the frame on a 6-4 run to take the 52-48 lead at halftime.
UMM picked up where it left off to start the second half, as it built the margin to double digits on a 13-5 run in the first three and a half minutes.
Junior Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Vikings with 20 points. Sophomore Justin Schrupp (Danube, Minn.) followed with 17 and senior Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) had 16 to round out those in double figures.
Bethany held the team advantages in blocks (4-0) and steals (8-5).
The Vikings return to the court next Saturday, Feb. 27, when they host St. Scholastica at 3 p.m.
