MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (3-1 overall, 3-1 UMAC) defeated Minnesota Morris (4-3, 2-3) 82-56 in the UMAC Game of the Week Saturday afternoon. This snapped the Cougars' five-game winning streak.
Senior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) led all scorers with 26 points and finished with a double double with her team-best 10 rebounds.
Classmate Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) joined her in double figures with 20 points. Olson was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line to add her name to the single game record list. With her two three-point field goals in the game, she has now tied the career mark at 180, previously set by Jade Pelzl (2011-14).
The score was tied twice in the first two minutes, until the Vikings compiled a 9-1 run over the next three minutes to take the lead for good. BLC later led 35-23 at halftime, and later led by as many as 29 points early in the fourth quarter.
As a team, Bethany owned the advantage in field goal percentage, free throw percentage, rebounds, offensive rebounds, assists, and steals.
