SUPERIOR, Wis.— Four Bethany women's basketball players scored in double digits in the 79-60 win over UW-Superior Saturday. With the win, the Vikings move to 2-0 on the season and in UMAC contests.
Senior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) led the team with 25 points. Classmate Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) had 14, junior Laura Ellinghuysen (Winona, Minn.) had 11, and freshman Sara Kottke (Buffalo Lake, Minn.) had 10.
The Vikings opened the game on a 14-6 lead in the first six minutes and never looked back. The Yellowjackets cut it to eight late in the second quarter, but Kottke scored the next five points to give BLC the 40-27 lead at halftime.
UW-Superior came within nine points three times early in the third quarter, but baskets by Geistfeld and Olson quelled that threat, as Bethany would lead by double figures for the duration of the game.
Defensively, the Vikings held the Yellowjackets to zero percent from beyond the arc (0-11) on the day.
BLC opens a five-game homestand Thursday against North Central at 7 p.m.
