MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (7-1 overall) defeated Martin Luther (3-10) 75-64 in a UMAC Tournament quarterfinal game Thursday.

The Vikings led 21-19 after the first quarter and 35-30 at halftime. Senior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) had 16 of her 25 points in the first half.

Classmate Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) opened the third quarter scoring all 11 points for the Vikings in their 11-6 run in the first three and a half minutes, and later led 54-50 after the third. Sophomore Taryn Christensen (Sioux City, Neb.) scored all six of her points in the fourth quarter to help extend the lead into double digits.

Geistfeld led all players with her 25, and Olson finished with 19.

BLC owned the team advantages in all three shooting percentage categories, rebounds, and assists.



The Vikings will travel to face Northwestern Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in a UMAC Tournament semifinal.
