MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team fell 71-53 to the top seed St. Scholastica in a UMAC Tournament semifinal game Saturday night.
The Vikings end the season 6-4, while the Saints remain undefeated at 10-0.
St. Scholastica jumped to a 15-5 lead in the first four and a half minutes of play, and later led 37-23 at halftime.
A triple by sophomore Justin Schrupp (Danube, Minn.) made it a nine-point game (42-33) with 15:15 to go in the second half. The Saints responded with a 12-0 run over the next four minutes to push the margin to 21.
Senior Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Schrupp both had nine points on the night. Sophomore Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) had eight points and a team-best 10 rebounds. Junior Jacob Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) also had eight points to round out the leading scorers.
The Vikings owned the team advantages in assists, blocks, and free throw percentage.
