ASHLAND, Wis. – The Bethany men's basketball team traveled to Northland on Friday night and used a strong second half to take a 91-67 conference victory. With the win the Vikings move to 17-3 overall and 8-1 in the UMAC while the LumberJacks fall to 4-16 overall and 2-7 in the conference.
After Bethany got out to an 18-13 lead in the first half on Friday, Northland would respond with eight straight points to go up 21-18. The Vikings would answer the rest of the half, as they outscored Northland 19-12 in the final 10:37 to hold a 37-33 halftime lead.
After a slow first few minutes of the second half, it seemed like the game would stay close down the stretch until the Vikings exploded for a 29-8 run over a 7-minute span to take a commanding 78-51 lead. Eight different players scored for Bethany on the run that all but sealed the win as they cruised to victory.
Jax Madson led the Vikings with 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting in the contest. Mason Ackley had a strong showing as well with 18 points and six rebounds, while Drew Sagedahl added 13 points and a team-best eight boards.
Bethany will be back in action tomorrow for a 3 p.m. contest versus UW-Superior.
