ASHLAND, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team Saturday took on Northland College and defeated the LumberJills 85-37. With the win the Vikings move to 4-14 overall and 4-3 in the UMAC while Northland falls to 0-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The LumberJills would open the contest with a three pointer before the Vikings would answer with four straight points to take a lead they wouldn't' relinquish for the rest of the contest. They would extend their early lead to 8-3 before Northland would score five of the next seven to bring the deficit to 10-8. The Vikings would halt the run there and score the quarters final seven points to lead 17-8 after one quarter.
Bethany would take over in the second, with a host of Vikings finding the bottom of the net in a quarter that saw them outscore Northland 31-4 and shoot 14-of-25 from the field. 20 of their 31 points in the second quarter came off turnovers with 18 points also being fast break points.
The Vikings would continue their momentum into the third, as they outscored the LumberJills 17-9 to lead 65-21 after three. They would then outscore the home team 20-16 in the fourth, with
Ma'yell Craig scoring eight points in the quarter as they claimed the win.

Ashanti Boykin led the Vikings as both posted a new career high with 15 points, with Wegner also adding six rebounds.
Juliana Ewald was the other Viking in double figures as she had 11 points in the game. All 12 Bethany players that saw action found the score column in this one.
Bethany has now reached the halfway point of their conference season, and they'll be back in action next weekend when they take on Martin Luther College in New Ulm with a noon start.
