ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's tennis team took on Northwestern on Thursday night and fell to the Eagles by a margin of 8-1. With the loss the Vikings fall to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the UMAC while the Eagles move to 16-7 overall and 2-1 in the conference.
Bethany fell in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to open the match before they got big win from Heitor Damaso and Joao Pugliese at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-5 The win came over Stewart Morrell and Jacob Weddle of UNW who are two of the winningest players in Eagle tennis history, accumulating over 100 wins each with the pair holding a 15-6 doubles record this year. Both players then played competitive second matches, with Pugliese falling 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Damaso falling 7-5, 6-7, 10-6 at No. 2.
